Radley's Senior team take the win

Radley hosted the 4th SAL fixture of 2017 at Tilsley Park on Sat and came away victorious with a comfortable win.

The team spirit was the winning recipe on the day, coupled with some great performances.

Aislinn Baird started the day off well winning the Hammer with a new pb of 50.40m with Kathryn Woodcock winning the B string with 42.65m. The throwing duo also went on to score good points in Discus with a double win – this time Kathryn taking the A string in 47.48m and Aislinn the B in 28.87m and the shot Kathryn 3rd A (10.76m ) and Aislinn another win the in the B string (9.94m).  Kathryns discus was good enough to win her female athlete of the match with Aislinn’s hammer coming in 2nd.

The male throwers were also having and good day and scored good points. Chris Shaw won A string shot (10.81m) and B string javelin (44.17m) and came second in A string discus with a pb of 30.18m and 2nd in hammer. Teammate Gwynn Wallace also scored good points winning the B string shot and discus and coming 2nd in the B string hammer. Tom Anstice also won the A string Javelin.

Jordan Dorrian had a treble win in the 100m, 200m and LJ with team mate Ben Owen winning the B string 100 & 200m.

Another winning double came in the women’s 400m – missing the 2 usual runners (Tara Kafke and Faith Brew) Emma Haley stepped down from her usual 800m to win in a time of 58.3 with B string Jess Anstice also winning in a pb of 62.5.

In only her 2nd race in 8 years, Islay Thorne improved her 400H pb by almost 2s to clock 70.6

All in all a fantastic performance from a small team (with 11 missing at English Schools) to grab the win over Yeovil, Walton and local rivals Oxford!
