Radley AC discus thrower and Oxfordshire County Champion Adam Chesterman left it until his final throw to claim 3rd place and the bronze medal at the Southern English Athletics Association Championship in Kent on Saturday 17th August.
Adam (aged 15) knew he had to throw further than 44.14 metres to snare the bronze, and unfazed, rose to the challenge by producing a fantastic throw of 44.66 metres to join Rhys Alen (Southampton AC) and current U17 champ Kane Aubrey (Wimborne AC) on the podium.

As the track season draws to a close, you are invited to enter the 2019 Club Championships at Tilsley Park on Sunday 15th September.
** Radley AC Members only **
This event is both competitive and fun. The closing date for entries is Sunday 8th September.
Thank you to all the athletes, parents and supporters who attended the Oxon League at Banbury on Sunday.
It was a great day - with some challenging weather - and well done to all those who managed a PB as well. In particular, a huge well done to the U13 boys team who came first overall on the day - especially to Henry Fletcher for his amazing 1.46m in the high jump - a new Club record!
The 3rd Oxon League is on Sunday 8th September at Horspath.
Good luck to the Radley AC athletes representing Oxfordshire Schools at the 2019 English Schools' Track & Field Championship in Birmingham July 12-13.

As indicated at the recent championships, there are plans for the 3000m championships to be held at the Marlow Open Meeting on Sunday 16th June. I have previously asked for interested athletes to let me know that they wish to compete; so far, few have done so.
Unless there are more expressions of interest (to be followed up by entries on the day, entry fee £5), these championships will NOT take place. The timing of the races will be at around lunchtime.

Please find attached the final timetables for the County Championships at the weekend and note the following:
A reminder to all athletes that they MUST register and check in at least 60 minutes before the stated time of their event (90 minutes for the pole vault). Late arrivals may not be accommodated within heats that have already been formatted.
Many congratulations to John Rice who ran the London Marathon last Sunday in a Radley vest and broke his target time of 4 hours by running the 26.2 miles in 3:54.58.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored him; he was raising funds for the Club to help replace and purchase new equipment which will enable us to support our athletes to reach their full potential.
