SAL Match 1 – Peterborough, 16 April 2016

Radley AC made the long trip to Peterborough for their first SAL fixture of 2016 having returning to the top division (Div 1) this year.

The fixture was always going to be a tough one with the overall league winners at home (Nene Valley) as well as Colchester who finished 5th last year, whilst the other team (Harrow) was promoted along with Radley but as winners of Div 2W last year.

Radley rallied around to put a team together despite exams and injuries taking its toll and the efforts of the athletes that were there paid off.

Race Allocations
Race allocations have been based on the times submitted on entry forms. Please check which heat you are in, and arrive at the start at least 10 minutes before its start. If you are in a later heat please do not arrive too early – we would rather not have over 100 people congregating at the start!

EA Indoor Championships U15/17/20, Sheffield – 13/14 Feb 2016

BIG FISH BIG POND

You can be a big fish in a small pond for your athletic career, but the only people who will remember are you and your Mum/Dad! If your going to progress and go up the rankings you have to test yourself against the best the UK has to offer. A strong contingent of Radley athletes set off for Sheffield to perform in the individual indoor event championships. At stake would be gaining great experience, personal bests, final placings, potential medals and an opportunity to be that big fish.

Upcoming Officials Courses

Oxfordshire AA are planning to run Level 2 courses on:

Sunday 17 April, at Horspath Road - Health & Safety
Sunday 17 April, at Horspath Road - Track
Sunday 24 April, at Iffley Road - Photo Finish

In addition, there are L2 modules running at TVAC, Eton on 28 February, in Track, Field and Timekeeping.

For the latter two disciplines, these are likely to be the nearest opportunities now available before the summer season.
All these and other course details are on the England Athletics website (Volunteers - Officials - Courses).

SEAA Indoor Champs U20 Women – Lee Valley, 17 Jan 2016

As a first year u20 women Alice Hopkins and Luisa Chantler Edmond went to this years championships on a bit of a learning curve. Both had older more experienced opposition but undaunted they set about trying to recreate last years medal haul of 3 medals (as u17 athletes). Luisa had set her eyes firstly on both a pb and a Radley club record. After a week of training in freezing conditions when to be honest shot putting was a nightmare she opened with an equal to her pb of 11.56mts.
