We have received this letter via one of our parents and thought we should share it with our members and their parents in respect of coming to and from training, especially now the evenings are darker.
We’re pleased to announce that Jill Slatter has been awarded the England Athletics South East Regional Council Award for Services to Athletics, following a nomination from the Club’s committee (and other individual nominations).
Jill was one of the founder members of Radley AC in 1972 and continues to support its activities acting as a sprint/hurdle coach, track judge and sitting on Committee.
Attached are the results from the last Oxon league fixture of the 2016 season.
Well done to all Radley athletes who took part this year.
Thank you to athletes, parents, officials, coaches and everyone else for helping make this event happen, especially Annalise who put a massive amount into making it happen.
A finalised timetable for our open meeting can be downloaded here.
No adjustments have been made since the provisional timetable.
Could all those taking part in the Javelin event wear 6mm spikes.
Radley’s senior team travelled to its final SAL match in Dartford on Sat 20 Aug.
Lack of availability of athletes meant the team was only 16 athletes strong (including 6 masters athletes) across both genders and this was therefore always going to be a struggle to fill every event (2 per event) against the top 2 teams in the league. Despite this the athletes there covered as much as they could and rallied around, showing great team spirit to muster as many points as possible. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough and the team came 4th on the day with only 143 points.
At the u15/u17 South of England Champs Holly Griffiths-Brown landed the Gold medal in the u15 girls triple jump. As Holly took her first jump it was evident that the competition was over as she landed a 10.58mt jump - this was up in the top 5 jumps in the country this year and shocked the other competitors who never recovered. No one could respond and Holly just got better and better as the rounds went on.
Radley AC are proud to announce that after a lot of hard work we have been reaccredited with Clubmark, Sport England’s national accreditation scheme for high quality community clubs.
8 Radley athletes had entered this year’s SEAA Combined Events Championships, with every expectation of 3 of them taking a medal.
Regrettably the attrition rate meant that no medals were forthcoming.
Day one – Saturday the 16 July started badly as Adela Hussain (SW) had to pull out before the competition started with a damaged foot. With Pakistan internationals to prepare for this was a precaution we had to take to ensure she is in good shape in Oct/Nov.
